Dr. Nisha Sajnani is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator to join the Jameel Arts and Health Lab to begin early Spring 2023. Dr. Sajnani’s current work involves 1) the study of the health benefits of the arts and arts therapies; 2) the coordination of a global network of researchers engaged in various forms of inquiry including, but not limited to, evidence syntheses, pilot and implementation studies, arts-based and qualitative research, cohort studies, and large-scale randomized experiments of arts-based interventions in health and care settings; and 3) the translation of evidence into conducive policy in collaboration with research partners. The Research Coordinator will work primarily on the coordination of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab under the direction of Dr. Nisha Sajnani, the Director of Research for the lab. The Jameel Arts & Health Lab was established by WHO Europe, the Steinhardt School at New York University, Community Jameel, and CULTURUNNERS. With a focus on excluded and underserved communities, the Lab will leverage a global network of research partners to measure the impact of the arts on our physical, mental, and social wellbeing. WHO-led advocacy will drive policy discussions and implementation across 194 UN Member States.

Specific responsibilities of the Research Coordinator include:

  • Project management and research operations such as documenting project decisions, creating systems for tracking and sharing information, organizing meetings and travel;
  • Research tasks such as developing bibliographies and literature reviews, tabling results, preparing presentations;
  • Coordinating monitoring data systems and data quality (e.g. through Qualtrics, Covidence, or REDCap);
  • Creating systems of data documentation and management including codebooks, data manuals, memos, and guides to analytic datasets;
  • Generating data reports and running basic descriptive analyses using Excel and other statistical software as needed; and
  • Coordinating with the Office of Research on grants management, including maintaining shadow budgets, tracking expenses, managing subaward agreements, and compiling progress reports to funders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, arts, health studies, or related social science field;
  • 1-2 years of experience working on research teams, preferably in the area of arts and health or creative arts therapies
  • Demonstrated experience working with quantitative data (e.g., creating, interpreting, and using tables summarizing data) and/or qualitative data (e.g. codebooks, memos);
  • Strong Excel skills for manipulating and analyzing data and familiarity with Google Suite (Google slides, docs, etc.);
  • Experience with survey design and database creation preferred (e.g. Qualtrics, Covidence, REDCap);
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively on complex tasks;
  • Commitment to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Salary
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $50,000 – $59,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Positions come with a full package of NYU benefits. In addition, the Research Coordinator will be able to work remotely and will have opportunities to contribute to conference presentations, reports, and manuscripts, as well as attend a rich array of events available through the Jameel Arts and Health Lab and through NYU more broadly.
