Gifts of Art is one of the longest-running and most comprehensive arts in healthcare programs in the country. A recognized pioneer in the field, Gifts of Art brings the world of the arts to Michigan Medicine patients, families, guests, faculty, learners, and staff with the intention of transforming the healthcare experience, supporting the healing process, and enhancing the health and wellbeing of all it serves. For over twenty years, the Bedside Music program has been offering live music at the bedside of patients to bring comfort, help reduce stress, manage pain, and lift the spirit.

JOB SUMMARY
Michigan Medicine’s Gifts of Art program is seeking a half-time (20 hrs/wk) music practitioner to join our dynamic arts in healthcare team. We are seeking a highly skilled musician on an acoustic instrument –vocalist is a plus. A broad and diverse repertoire is desired. The successful candidate must be able to perform a wide variety of musical styles as well as possess the desire to use their talent in the service of others.

BASIC DUTIES
• Playing appropriate live music at the bedside of adult patients.
• Working with medical and clinical staff to identify patients who would benefit from a music visit.
• Documenting, tracking, and keeping statistics on music visits.
• Playing music in clinical units for the comfort and stress relief of staff.
• Working collaboratively as part of a comprehensive arts in health program.
