Provides direct clinical services for Miami Cancer Institute patients of all ages by using music as a tool to meet the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, spiritual and cultural needs of patients. Responsible for developing treatment plans, implementing and evaluating music therapy interventions and ensuring safe and appropriate therapeutic services. Assesses, plans, implements, documents, and evaluates the services provided based on policy, standards of practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration within the healthcare team. Will support mutual goals of achieving management of pain and discomfort, positive changes in mood and emotional state, decreased levels of anxiety and stress, and improved coping methods. The Miami Cancer Institute Music Therapist will facilitate groups, conduct individual sessions, and coordinate music activities throughout the ambulatory facility. Duties will also include clinical oversight and collaborative programmatic development of a robust Arts in Medicine program including research within an oncology ambulatory center.

Degrees: Bachelors Masters
Licenses & Certifications: CBMT Music Therapist – Board Certified Additional
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a program accredited by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) or master’s degree in Music Therapy preferred. Must be board-certified in music therapy (MT-BC.) Three years of related experience in a clinical setting. An established track record of administrative management, clinical research and experience working collaboratively and cohesively with the discipline of artists in medicine in a healthcare setting. Experience cannot be substituted for educational requirement.
