Miami Cancer Institute Arts in Medicine Program announces:
2023-2024 Artist-in-Residence Fellowship
Seeking empathic artists who are ready to engage patients in the creative arts.
The program welcomes a visual artist and musician of varied experiences, backgrounds, and knowledge to facilitate patient led creative processes. The paid independent contractor position will require a one-year commitment of 20 hours per week on a flexible schedule, Monday through Friday at $38,460 per year. The following includes a list of essential criteria for applicants of the Artist-in-Residence Fellowship program at Miami Cancer Institute.
-Established professional artist in the community
-Strong interpersonal skills with exceptional empathy, compassion and a profound ability to engage with patients and caregivers
-Experience and comfort working with diverse populations
-Prior experience or vested interest in creating art projects tailored to each patient in a healthcare setting
-Three professional references in the field
-Sample of artistic work (video/audio performance, portfolio)
The fellowship will require the Artist-in-Residence to:
-Facilitate patient led creative art expression to enhance patient wellbeing
-Participate in a 1-2 week online “Artist in Healthcare Setting” training program by UF Center for Arts in Medicine
-Mentor graduate creative arts students in the healthcare setting
-Meet vaccination and background check requirements.
