On Monday, November 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) European Region released a comprehensive scoping review of over 900 publications to address the question: What is the evidence on the role of the arts in improving health and well-being? The review found evidence from a wide variety of studies using diverse methodologies that the arts can potentially impact both mental and physical health.
Lead authors are Daisy Fancourt and Saoirse Finn. The just released report of the findings and recommendations can be found here which we believe represent a significant case for supporting arts in health practice and research. NOAH applauds this announcement and thanks WHO for taking on this research. We look forward to next steps.
